The reason you received this message "This installation package is not supported by this product type" is because you may have tried to install the 64 bit version of GAUSS on a 32 bit computer. You can only install the 64 bit version of GAUSS on a 64 bit computer.
You can find the processor information for your computer under Systems Settings on the Windows Control Panel.
